ORE is very proud of our traditional and prestigious livestock event production. Livestock shows including beef, dairy, sheep, light horse and draft horse have seen sustainability, momentum and even growth at a time when the exhibition industry has witnessed significant decline or elimination of primary agriculture showcases. ORE attributes this unique achievement to the commitment and dedication of volunteers who work tirelessly to assure each event's success. Check out the following ORE Signature Events that are spotlighted throughout the year and truly showcase exhibitor talent, commercial commerce and outstanding agri-business.

Gymkhana - Winter 2020/2021
A fun, low keyed afternoon of horsing around with the family!

2021: January 10, January 24*, February 14, February 28*, March 14
April 11, 2021 Finals (Must qualify for finals)
* Makeup dates in case of inclement weather

Gymkhana Practices start on Friday, November 22nd and will run every Friday till April. Please follow us on Facebook to stay current on weather conditions that may force practices to be cancelled. ORE's policy is that we do not open buildings when temperatures feel like -20.

2020/2021 Season

• To minimize the number of people/horses in the arena the following time slots will be available to enter:
  • 10 am - 12 pm (20 riders)
  • 12 - 2 pm (20 riders)
  • 2 - 4 pm (20-30 riders)
• Entry deadline: Friday before event at 8:00 pm
• Rules & Regulations (Information, Membership Form & Fees, Age Categories, etc)

Spring Classic Steer & Heifer Show - April 2021
ORE hosts the annual Olds "Spring Classic" Jackpot Steer & Heifer Show (traditionally) on the third weekend in April at the Olds Cow Palace.

The Spring Classic was introduced in 1999 to provide an opportunity for 4-H members, youth and open exhibitors to sharpen their showing skills and enjoy some friendly competition.

Farmer's Market - May to September 2021
Vendors offer unique items including sewing, knitting, baking, woodworking, fruits, vegetables, and numerous other items under the Cow Palace roof, grown to be one of the favourites in the area. Spring markets are held in the foyer of the Cow Palace, expanding to include the parking area surrounding the Cow Palace during the summer. Markets run from 3:30 - 6:30 pm on Thursdays.

Alberta High School Rodeo Finals - June 4 to 6, 2021
ORE is proud to be hosting the 2021 Alberta High School Rodeo Finals at the Olds Regional Exhibition Grounds in June. This is the pinnacle of the provincial high school rodeo season, and everyone is welcome to attend to see the province's up-and-coming rodeo stars. Besides the rodeo events, there will be a Trade Show.

The Olds Craft Beer Festival showcases some of the most winning and progressive breweries in Alberta! ORE is delighted to offer this rural craft beer festival that also features some delightful wines and spirits. This celebration is intended for the most passionate beer connoisseurs, wine enthusiasts and spirit lovers!

Summer Synergy - July 12 to 16, 2021
Olds Regional Exhibition is committed to provide a collaborative venue to showcase youth in agriculture by combining traditional elements with innovative approaches for personal achievement and development. This will increase inter-breed interaction, avoid duplication, improve financial sustainability, engage the public and enhance the profile of rural lifestyle and primary production. This youth livestock program is known as Summer Synergy!

Oldstoberfest - 4th Annual - September 17 and 18, 2021
Oldstoberfest returned to Olds Alberta in 2018. In 2015, the event brought over 8,000 visitors into town with a professional rodeo, an authentic Biergarten, and world class concerts. In 2018, that number was about 7,000, despite Mother Nature doing her best to deter us!

Under new ownership of C5 Rodeo Company, Oldstoberfest will return as an annual event!

Alberta BMX Indoor Winter Track
ORE has enjoyed a relationship with Alberta BMX to offer the MegaDome from November to April. This unique partnership encourages BMX riders of all ages and talents to gather in an indoor setting to learn, compete and teach the value of cycling and being active. These weekend events include coaching, open track and District Racing.
